Annual Mussel Quarantine - prohibiting recreational harvest of mussels for human consumption. Do NOT collect or consume mussels until further notice; cooking does not destroy toxin. This does not apply to commercially sold mussels. La Jolla Avenida de la Playa, La Jolla Cove and Children's Pool Bacteria levels exceed health standards. Avoid water contact in the advisory area.
Mission Bay Santa Clara Cove (south end), Fanuel Park, Crown Point Drain, Comfort Station (north of Leisure Lagoon), and Fiesta Island (northwest shore) Bacteria levels exceed health standards. Avoid water contact in the advisory area.
Ocean Beach Dog Beach (San Diego River outlet) Bacteria levels exceed health standards. Avoid water contact in the advisory area.
Coronado Avenida Lunar Bacteria levels exceed health standards. Avoid water contact in the advisory area.
Silver Strand The ocean shoreline from south of Avenida Lunar to north of Carnation Avenue CLOSURE: Bacteria levels exceed health standards. Avoid water contact in the advisory area.
Imperial Beach The ocean shoreline from the south end of Seacoast Drive to north of Carnation Avenue CLOSURE: Bacteria levels exceed health standards. Avoid water contact in the advisory area.
Tijuana Slough The ocean shoreline from the U.S. / Mexico border through Border Field State Park and the Tijuana Slough National Wildlife Refuge due to cross boundary flows​ CLOSURE: Bacteria levels exceed health standards. Avoid water contact in the advisory area.​

Advisory* – An advisory is issued when the beach water exceeds State bacterial standards. The Department of Environmental Health & Quality (DEHQ) ADVISES beach goers to avoid water contact. An advisory is lifted when water sample results are within State standards.

Closure* – This beach is CLOSED to water contact due to an imminent health threat associated with a sewage or chemical spill. A closure is lifted when sewage or chemical contamination is no longer visibly present in the water.
