Join us for San Diego Coastkeeper’s annual fundraising gala, the Seaside Soirée!

The event brings together environmental advocates, community leaders, decision-makers, supporters, key stakeholders, and partners to reflect on the past year’s successes in advancing the protection and restoration of clean, abundant water across San Diego County. It is the one time of the year our friends, members, and supporters come together and dive deep into San Diego Coastkeeper’s programs and projects and mingle with the individuals that are making a difference for the health of our inland and coastal waterways.

The evening event will feature a gourmet dinner, hosted bar, live entertainment, silent auction, valet parking, special guest speakers, and the opportunity to network with fellow ocean enthusiasts, all overlooking the stunning San Diego Bay at sunset. We look forward to seeing you there!

Live Music by Big Mountain

This year’s event will feature live music by the band, Big Mountain! Formed in San Diego in 1986, Big Mountain blends reggae, Latin, and soulful influences into a signature sound that has resonated with audiences worldwide for decades. Led by Quino McWhinney, the band continues to inspire fans through timeless hits, uplifting messages, and unforgettable live performances.

2026 Guest Speakers

Andrew Meyer

Director of Conservation

San Diego Bird Alliance and leads the ReWild Mission Bay Coalition

Andrew graduated from SUNY Binghamton in New York, later earning a Masters in Geography from the University of Colorado, Boulder. He worked for the Hudson River Estuary Program reconnecting aquatic habitat through culvert mitigation and dam removal projects. He has done field work in a wide variety of locations, researching and protecting a range of threatened and endangered species, before bringing his passion to San Diego.

Coastkeeper and the San Diego Bird Alliance (formerly known as San Diego Audubon Society) have partnered for many years to support efforts to protect waterways and wildlife, and have many recent wins to celebrate, such as helping to end the daily SeaWorld’s fireworks shows impacting Mission Bay, as well as the California Coastal Commission’s recent unanimous approval and strengthening of the De Anza Natural plan.

Laurie Silvan

Founder and Executive Director

Tijuana Waterkeeper/Proyecto Fronterizo de Educación Ambiental, A.C (PFEA)

Laurie Silvan is a social anthropologist and environmental leader with four decades of work advancing community-based conservation and binational collaboration along the U.S.-Mexico border by helping to pioneer the Environmental Education Council of the Californias, the Border Power Plant Working Group, and the Binational Tijuana River Watershed Advisory Council. She co-founded Tijuana Waterkeeper, or Proyecto Fronterizo de Educación Ambiental (PFEA), in 1991 and now chairs its Board of Directors.

As fellow members of the global Waterkeeper Alliance, San Diego Coastkeeper and Tijuana Waterkeeper work closely to address the greatest threat to our shared region’s waters: the Tijuana River Sewage Crisis. Together we host a One Coastal Community platform, a shared resource for water quality data, and convene a Binational Water Quality Working Group, pulling together experts from both sides of the border to share information and collaboratively tackle cross-border pollution.
