Annual gala moves to South San Diego Bay for an evening of sunset views, entertainment and community celebration
SAN DIEGO, Calif. – San Diego Coastkeeper will host its annual Seaside Soirée, presented by The Stiefel Behner Charitable Fund, on Thursday, September 10, 2026. The event brings together environmental advocates, elected officials, donors and community partners to celebrate the past year’s clean water victories and raise funds for the organization’s continued work protecting San Diego County’s waterways.
This year’s celebration takes place at Bramble Bay in South San Diego Bay, offering guests sweeping sunset views over the water. The evening will include inspiring speakers, live entertainment, a hosted bar, a silent auction and a seated dinner, all in support of Coastkeeper’s mission to safeguard swimmable, drinkable and fishable water throughout the region.
“We are excited to share highlights of our recent clean water victories, while gearing up for the enormous challenges that still lie ahead,” said Phillip Musegaas, Executive Director of San Diego Coastkeeper. “Above all, we want to honor and uplift our supporters and partners and celebrate our shared vision for clean water and healthy communities in San Diego.”
The Seaside Soirée celebrates more than 30 years since Coastkeeper’s founding in 1995, when the organization set out to protect the region’s inland and coastal waters through community science, education, advocacy and legal enforcement. Since then, Coastkeeper has grown into San Diego County’s leading clean water advocacy organization, tackling issues ranging from the Tijuana River sewage crisis to stormwater infrastructure funding and marine protected areas.
This year’s program will feature remarks by Andrew Meyer, Director of Conservation for San Diego Bird Alliance, and Laurie Silvan, President of the Board of Directors for Proyecto Fronterizo de Educación Ambiental (PFEA), Coastkeeper’s binational partner organization on Tijuana River watershed advocacy.
The evening begins at 6:00 p.m. with live music by Big Mountain, an open bar, and the opening of the silent auction, with dinner seating and the evening’s program starting at 7:00 p.m. Guest speakers and closing remarks follow at 8:00 p.m., with coffee, dessert and the close of the silent auction at 8:30 p.m. The evening concludes at 9:00 p.m.
