SAN DIEGO – Go blue with San Diego Coastkeeper, the region’s largest environmental organization protecting inland and coastal waters, at its official celebration of World Oceans Day on June 8, 2011. Enjoy live music, a tasty meal, happy hour prices and good company from 6 p.m. – 9 p.m. at Hennessey’s of La Jolla, while Coastkeeper provides you with entertaining and challenging ocean games.

Gather round as San Diego Coastkeeper leads an interactive and educational evening geared toward protecting La Jolla’s Areas of Special Biological Significance (ASBS), which aims to protect the quality of water in the ecologically unique area that is vulnerable to pollution.
While surrounded by the fun Irish atmosphere at Hennessey’s, located at 7811 Herschel Ave., participants can enjoy a refreshing pint of beer from Kona Brewing Company or a glass of wine from Barefoot Wine and Bubbly with proceeds of the sales benefiting Coastkeeper.

Coastkeeper members and San Diego residents are encourage to bring a friend and celebrate World Oceans Day, which is like Earth Day for oceans internationally.
Coastkeeper’s World Oceans Day fun will continue on Thursday, June 9, at Go Blue Day at PETCO Park during the Padres v. Nationals game. All Go Blue Day participants should sport their favorite blue shirt and join Coastkeeper staff, volunteers and board of directors in the Go Blue Day section.

Entrance to the World Oceans Day party is free for current San Diego Coastkeeper members. For non-members, the door charge includes a year-long membership to Coastkeeper and a stainless steel water bottle for $15 or a ticket to Go Blue Day at PETCO Park for $20. Current members can also purchase a ticket to the Padres’ game for $10.
