March 4 – San Diego Coastkeeper Welcomes Glen Schmidt to Board of Directors

Schmidt’s policy, conservation experience adds to depth of the board

SAN DIEGO, March 4, 2014 –San Diego Coastkeeper announces the addition of Glen Schmidt to its board of directors. Schmidt brings substantial experience in high profile roles in water conservation and stormwater policy. He has served as vice-chair of the Public Utilities Advisory Commission for the City of San Diego, on the advisory committee for the Long Range Water Resource Plan for the City of San Diego, as vice-chair of the San Diego Water Policy Implementation Task Force, and an advisory committee for the development of the County of San Diego’s Low Impact Development Manual.

“The breadth and depth of Glen’s experience are extraordinary and will amplify the impact of Coastkeeper’s work addressing our region’s most pressing environmental challenges,” says Board President Jo Brooks. “Glen is a great fit for our diverse volunteer board of directors, combining substantive expertise with a lifelong passion for our region’s waters.”

Schmidt is president of the Schmidt Design Group, Inc. a San Diego-based landscape architecture and planning firm that specializes in artful and environmentally sustainable solutions. He’s a San Diego native and avid surfer with a bachelor of science in environmental planning and management from University of California, Davis.
