We train community volunteers to conduct monthly water quality sampling which provides vital data to understand water quality issues and inform decision makers.
Join our Chollas Creek Water Quality Sampling Day, where volunteers will join our team to gather water samples and collect data at four (4) sites within the Chollas Lake community. Volunteers will collect water samples and use different scientific instruments to gather data. Please bring a reusable water bottle, sun protection, hiking shoes (or closed-toed), and long pants. You might also want to bring hiking/athletic and water-resistant clothing. One team will join our Interim Community Science Director, Marie Diaz, and one other staff member. Meet up is at Gompers Park, on the side of Carolina Ln.
PLEASE READ: Please ensure you have registered as a volunteer and attended a training session before signing up for a sampling date. Only registered and previously trained volunteers can participate in a sampling field day. There is a virtual training option if you have not attended an in-person training. Here is the link to the virtual recording and post-training quiz. Thank you for your interest and understanding. *NOTE: *You must sign up through the volunteer platform* If signups don’t appear for the sampling date, either the form hasn’t gone live or all slots have been filled.
San Diego Coastkeeper staff will be driving volunteers to the sampling sites. For questions or concerns, email Lesly at [email protected]
