Jackson joined the Coastkeeper in August 2025 as the Marine Debris Coordinator, where he plans, organizes, and leads the beach cleanup program.
Jackson received his B.S. in Environmental Science and Management from UC Davis in 2024, with a concentration in Climate Change and Air Quality. During his time at UC Davis, he worked as a Laboratory Research Intern in two marine science labs. His projects included evaluating new lab germination equipment and techniques for seagrass (Zostera marina) to improve the accuracy of the lab’s marine research. His lab work culminated in the completion and acceptance of a Senior Honors Thesis attempting to identify and combat an unknown fungal organism infecting the lab’s seagrass seedlings.
After graduation, Jackson started work in Encinitas as an Environmental Scientist and Planner, working on environmental regulation compliance and documentation. As the Marine Debris Coordinator, he’s excited to protect our local shorelines and make beaches cleaner and more accessible for everyone.
Outside of the office, Jackson enjoys hiking, going to Padres games, and sitting down with a book pretty much anywhere.
