Delanie joined San Diego Coastkeeper in January 2021 as the education coordinator.
Delanie is curious about the world around her and inspired by the ocean. As a young girl, she noticed frogs in her swimming pool during the 1997 El Niño. This discovery put her on the path to a career and life dedicated to the environment. In college, she monitored the local ecology in protected habitats and worked as a part-time swim instructor. She graduated from California State University, San Marcos with a B.S in Biology and a concentration in Ecology. Delanie worked as an educator and naturalist for Birch Aquarium at Scripps in her previous role. She led the San Diego Bay whale watching program, various Baja eco-tours, and developed ocean science educational programs. Some of her favorite travels include diving in the Galapagos Islands and cruising down the Amazon River.
When she isn’t working with Coastkeeper, Delanie is likely walking her dog by the ocean, snorkeling, or tidepooling. She may also be riding her bike, thrift shopping, or cooking up a new recipe.
