Alyssa Celones Senturk joined San Diego Coastkeeper in December 2020 and oversees the organization’s internal and external communications. She approaches each project like a new adventure: with the curious eyes of an anthropologist, a marketer’s mind, and an activist’s heart.
Alyssa (or Ally) is a creative storyteller with a multimedia marketing and science communication background. She holds a B.A. in Cultural Anthropology from the University of California Santa Barbara, where she specialized in Latin American and Iberian Studies. While at UC Santa Barbara, she participated in a year-long education abroad cultural immersion program at the Universidad de Chile in Santiago, where she worked with communities on bicycle advocacy and urban gardening. After graduation, they spent time WWOOFing on a small organic farm in Talkeetna, AK. Before working with Coastkeeper, Alyssa led marketing campaigns for several California statewide clean energy programs with the Center for Sustainable Energy. They also helped relaunch Surfrider Foundation San Diego’s Blue Water Task Force, a volunteer-run community science and water quality monitoring program.
Alyssa is passionate about enhancing lives and expanding San Diegans’ perspectives while assisting them in strengthening their communities.
In their spare time, Alyssa can be found in their garden, cooking, taking dance breaks, practicing yoga, playing with their dog, or adventuring outside. She also tells stories about everyday activism on her podcast, Feelanthrope.
