July 19 – San Diego Coastkeeper Welcomes Dr. Mark Laska to Board of Directors

Ecology entrepreneur adds depth of knowledge and experience to board

SAN DIEGO, July 19, 2016 –San Diego Coastkeeper announces the addition of Dr. Mark Laska to its board of directors. Dr. Laska brings substantial knowledge and 25 years of experience in ecology and habitat restoration to the non-profit protecting and restoring San Diego County’s fishable, swimmable, drinkable waters. As founder and president of Great Ecology, a San Diego-based ecological consulting firm, Dr. Laska’s career has focused on the restoration, planning, and design of urban and natural environments through sustainable solutions. Now, Dr. Laska is bringing his systems-thinking and holistic eye to aid San Diego County’s waters.

“By examining how all parts of an ecosystem are connected, Mark sheds light on how humans impact our environment,” says Board President Elizabeth Taylor. “We’re excited to have Dr. Laska’s deep expertise help our board in addressing San Diego’s most pressing water challenges, such as the need to conserve potable water and improve the water quality of our rivers and streams.”

Dr. Laska also serves on the boards of the National Mitigation Banking Association, I Love a Clean San Diego and Scripps Hospital Citizens Advisory Committee. He holds a PhD in Ecology from Rutgers University, an MS from Fordham University and a BS from the University of Colorado.
