Hometown: San Diego, California

My favorite San Diego beer is: Habanero Sculpin

My favorite way to enjoy water is: Hiking along creeks and rivers, or as part of the previous response.

I want to see a world where people are mindful and understand the impacts of their choices on the environment.

Erika joined San Diego Coastkeeper in 2019 as education manager, overseeing the education department, including Project SWELL and Water Education for All. With a degree in Environmental Science and Policy, experience in informal and outdoor education, classroom special education, and nonprofit marketing, Erika’s diverse background and passion for the environment compliment San Diego Coastkeeper’s mission, vision, and values. As education manager, Erika strives to connect people to the outdoors and inspire and empower individuals to make positive choices for their environment and community.

Erika’s passion for the environment extends beyond her nine-to-five. After work, you can find her filling jars with bulk goods, taking care of her plants, or feeding her worms (vermicompost). An avid outdoors person, Erika spends her weekends deep in nature – backpacking, snowboarding, and climbing. During each activity she hopes to lead by example to do their part, help the planet, and go further outdoors.
