San Diego is known around the world for its waters. People visit to swim, surf, kayak, boat, fish, stand-up paddleboard, dive or simply play in the crashing waves. Our swimmable waters are a monumental part of our culture and economy, but data from our Water Quality Program show chronic pollution problems in our inland waters that inhibit our ability to enjoy and profit from these activities. Additionally, sea level rise in San Diego gravely threatens our existing and future developments along our coastline.
Jump feet first into our work ensuring swimmable waters for generations to come. Just remember to first check for beach advisories on our San Diego Beach Status page.
