A Sheltered Sea: The Southern Passage
A film about the Marine Life Protection Act (MLPA) Initiative along the California coast. The film highlights the activities taking place in the South Coast Region from Point Conception to Mexico. The Southern Passage features the collective benefits and challenges of creating a network of underwater parks, or Marine Protected Areas (MPAs), that protect and sustain marine ecosystems and shows how MPAs can positively affect all people, from environmental groups to the fishing industry alike. Despite the challenges facing the region, the film speaks to the importance of setting aside these areas to protect and sustain our ocean heritage for future generations.

A Place of Their Own: Protecting Sea Life in California
Join Scripps marine ecologist Edward Parnell as he describes the science behind Marine Protected Areas, how they are established and preliminary results from the first such areas around California.

The Ocean California Channel
This channel features three videos about The Marine Life Protection act and the importance of marine protected areas.

Marine Biology Documentary-Inside the Lines
"No Take Zone" is one of the first documentaries to show the effects of marine protection by examining the biological effects inside and outside the boundary lines.

Global Success Stories: Tabus and MPAs in Fiji
In the early 1990’s, the size and numbers of fish on Fijian reefs were declining. In response, Fijians began to use traditional customs to create a series of marine protected areas. These protected areas can improve fishing in the waters surrounding the reef.
